Vaneshran has lent his time, talent and TV celebrity to worthy causes as a public speaker, ambassador and activist for such organisations as POWA (People opposing Women Abuse), Masimanyane Women’s Support Centre, Ashoka Innovators for the Public, The Men’s March, Wits Rape Crisis Centre, Leeukop Prison, to name a few. He helped build and run a performance venue in District Six, Cape Town and has been awarded a Ford Fellowship for his commitment to the Arts in social activism.

He has taught and trained Performing Arts in Pollsmoor Prison, as part of the Turning Point Foundation which he founded with Paul Schoolman and the Jail Caesar project. Vaneshran has also served on the Performing Arts Network of South Africa Western Cape executive as vice chairperson, as well as chairperson for the Western Cape chapter of the International Fellowship Programme Alumni Association of South Africa.

Recognising his innovative ideas for the Arts and using storytelling to create the world we really want, Vaneshran, representing Sixface Creatives, was selected as  a winner of the Civil Society Academy Social Innovation Challenge 2019.
